Alex Dimitriades portrays Nick Polides in the 1993 film The Heartbreak Kid and Nick Poulos in 38 episodes of Heartbreak High.
Dimitriades was 21 years old when filming on the show began, 4 years older than his character.
He left Heartbreak High in 1994, after Network Ten declined to pay him more money to star in the second series. His character was consequently killed off at the network's insistence.
Dimitriades went on to star in several other projects involving Heartbreak High creators Michael Jenkins and Ben Gannon, including cop dramas Blue Murder (1995, also starring Tony Martin and Stephen O'Rourke), Wildside (1997, also starring Tony Martin and Abi Tucker) and Young Lions (2002).
