Con Bordino is a series regular in series one through four of Heartbreak High. He is portrayed by Salvatore Coco.
The Heartbreak Kid (1987–1993)[]
The character is partially based on Con, played by Fonda Goniadis, in the 1993 film The Heartbreak Kid and from the 1987 play of the same name, originally played by Arky Michael (who also played Nick's father and the deputy headmaster). Con is Nick's cousin and best friend, and a student at his inner city Melbourne school. He is also similar to Kosta, played by Perry Stamatopoulos, another student in Nick's friend group.
Heartbreak High (1994–1997)[]
Costa "Con" Bordino is a popular and charismatic Greek-Italian-Australian student at Hartley High. He is portrayed as a hustler with several business ventures, always on his mobile phone, driving around in his convertible and working on schemes to make money. His father Roberto is a Italian immigrant who runs his own construction company, his Greek mother runs a catering company. His best friend is his cousin Nick, who also attends Hartley. Like Nick, he is a soccer fan, and on the school team.
Storylines[]
Con becomes Jodie's manager, and early episodes of the series focus on his attempts to kickstart her music career. In Episode 23, he gets her a gig on a televised "rising stars" contest, however when she quits when the network try to make over her image and he is forced to perform himself. This gets him the attention of Greta, an older television executive, who he begins dating in Episode 24. They break up in Episode 25, when Greta refuses to take their relationship seriously.
Con's brother Rocco returns from America in Episode 31, and opens up The Shark Pool, a pool hall which becomes the student's primary hangout. Con becomes the Shark Pool's co-owner and manager, and hires many of his school friends to work for him.
Con develops a relationship with Rose, even proposing to her in Episode 49, however she marries Jack instead. When Katerina moves in with the Bordinos, she gets drawn into Con's various schemes and the two eventually fall for each other, beginning a relationship from Episode 60.
Con applies for a student exchange program with Santa Monica High in California (presumably putting off his HSC to do so) and is accepted in Episode 71, leaving Hartley and ending his relationship with Katerina. He returns to Australia briefly in Episode 94, where he reveals that he has dropped out of school and entered the real estate business, and has also married Stephanie, the daughter of his American boss.
