Nico Lathouris, sometimes credited as Nick Lathouris, portrays George Polides in the 1993 film The Heartbreak Kid and George Poulos in 25 episodes of Heartbreak High.
Lathouris was 50 years old when filming on the show began. He is a graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA).
His character left Heartbreak High in 1994, however Lathoruis continued to work on the show behind-the-scenes as a dialogue coach and dramaturge until series five (he was replaced by Andrea Moor in series six and seven). He also directed Episode 87 and Episode 128.
He is a frequent collaborator of Heartbreak High creators Michael Jenkins and Ben Gannon, working as a dramaturge on many of their productions, including Blue Murder (1995), Wildside (1997), Head Start (2001), Young Lions (2002) and Blue Murder: Killer Cop (2017).
He is also notable for his work with director George Miller, first appearing as a "grease rat" in Mad Max (1979), before co-writing Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). He is signed on to co-write their sequels, Furiosa and Mad Max: The Wasteland.
